Does my child need to be present for a virtual visit?
Yes. The patient, child, must be part of all assessment visits.
I want to speak to the doctor without my child present?
OHIP requires that the child be present for assessments. This includes the initial or first consultation visit. In rare situations the doctor will speak with the parents only, to give test results for a child < 12 years old and/or for parent counseling.
What is an ACTIVE patient?
Specialist clinics need to assure openings are available for new referrals. Patients previously seen by MBD Clinic have their chart closed (made INACTIVE) when follow-up visits are not planned after the initial assessment, the patient has not been seen in the past 12 months or 2 consecutive follow-up visits have been missed.
Video Visit Information:
Video visits are provided by Insig Health. An Email notice is sent when a visit is booked. You can decline Email visits but will need to email the clinic to set an alternative time and date. We try to be on-time but may be occasionally delayed by urgent patient issues. Click on the email to open the visit. IF you wish to have a 2nd person join the visit from another location, once the visit has started, an email invite can be sent to the other person. 2 persons cannot share 1 email visit link.

My child is sick, I want to talk to the doctor about my concern?
MBD Clinic follows children for the condition they were referred for only. New health concerns need to be discussed with your primary care provider. Your primary care provider is your first contact for questions about your child. He/she can contact MBD clinic urgently as needed.
My child’s medication is running low, I need a prescription refill urgently?
Refills are provided at planned /scheduled visit intervals designed to assure medication is available continuously. If a planned/scheduled visit has been missed, or not booked, try getting refills bridged through:
1. Your primary care provider
2. Your pharmacy
3. A walk-IN clinic (take current prescription bottle to show the clinic)
4. ACTIVE patients can pay for a refill to hold until their next booked visit. Non-OHIP fees will be charged for refills without a visit.
I cannot find the visit e-form with my email appointment notice?
The clinic sends e-tools from a different secure email provider. All assessment (visit) tools, (e-forms) are sent directly to the email on record in the patient’s chart. E-forms are not attached with Cortico emails.
I can't find the letter sent from the clinic?
E-form emails must be completed and marked "I do not want to see this message again (confirm)" to avoid an email jam-up in our communications. E-forms more than 30 days old are "expired", incomplete tools are not attached. Expired emails still require you to "confirm" the email as received before another email can be opened.
If you can not locate a letter sent from the clinic you may have an email "jam-up". Open and confirm all emails to find the attachment letter. Download or print attachments on your PC or phone. DO NOT leave on clinic email as the letter will be lost when the email "expires"
Can the teacher email the clinic?
No. Health privacy laws prevent us from receiving information from schools, teachers and other care providers without special consents.
We do not send e-forms or reports to anybody besides the doctor/NP who referred the child to MBD Clinics. Teachers can use out Document-Sharing Portal link to return Teacher reports.
I need to book a follow-up visit?
All video and in-office follow-up visits are booked by emailing the clinic via "Contact US" from this website or calling and leaving a message on the answering service.. Only Active patients can book appointments. A wait of 2 to 3 weeks is needed to access "next available" appointment. We try to book follow up visits at the end of each follow up visit to assure availability of space and medication refill needs. In-office visits for specialized assessments are booked by MBD staff direct with the patient/family. Appointments cancelled without 48 hours notice are subject to Non-OHIP fees., including fees for medication refills without a visit.
I want the doctor to fill-out, sign a form?
Forms, including Disability Applications, can be discussed at regular follow-up visits. Do Not mail forms to the clinic. Forms will only be discussed or signed for ACTIVE patients.
